This book will help us explore the deep meaning of genuine inclusion. \nValarie Kaur tells a personal story that is “rooted in radical honesty\, vulnerability\, and fierce commitment to building a world in which we all belong” (Michelle Alexander). Her childhood and her religious tradition have taught her to see the world with wonder\, saying You are a part of me I do not yet know. Using this lens\, she shows us how we can love others\, even our opponents\, and ourselves. \nThe group will meet 3-4:30pm in the living room at the parsonage. Starting on September 20\, we will meet three times\, on the third Sunday of the month (Sept-Nov). We hope you will join us! What might it look and feel like for the First Lutheran community to lean into this goal? What communicates to you that you are welcome and that you belong? \nThe new Inclusion and Integration Team will host a brunch event on Sunday\, April 12\, so that we can explore these questions. We will be joined by some representatives from our wider community\, who can help us think about how to expand our welcome to people who might not expect to find their home in an ELCA church. \nBrunch will be served at 10:30am in the Chapel\, following worship. Egg bake\, fruit\, and baked goods are on the menu. We hope you will join us.
