Each week, we want you to be able to experience the love of God through great music, encouraging messages, and friendly people. We know that your first time at a church brings up some questions:
When is worship?
Sunday
8am & 9:30am
Where is the Sanctuary located?
The Sanctuary is located on the second floor.
What should I wear?
Come as you are! Wear whatever feels comfortable to you—most people dress casually or business casual.
Where should I park?
You can park in the church’s large parking lot or on the street nearby.
What happens when I arrive?
At our main entrances, friendly people will be there to welcome you and answer any questions. If stairs are a concern, an elevator is available to take you to the worship level.
Where will I sit?
Feel free to sit anywhere in the pews—there’s no assigned seating.
How long will worship last?
Worship at First Lutheran typically lasts about one hour.
What should I expect during worship?
Worship begins with a welcome and a gathering hymn, followed by a greeting, a song, and the prayer of the day. We then hear a Bible reading, sing the Gospel acclamation, and listen to the Gospel and sermon. While the Bible is our foundation, we also connect God’s Word to everyday life and current events.
We continue with songs of worship, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Apostles’ Creed (printed in the bulletin). During the offering, you’ll hear music from the choir or instrumentalists. We celebrate communion together, with music during distribution, followed by prayers and a blessing. Worship concludes with a final song and dismissal.
After the service, you’re invited to stay for refreshments and coffee—a great time to connect and meet new people!
Will I have to say/sign/give anything, or be singled out in any way?
No—at First Lutheran, you won’t be put on the spot, singled out, or made to feel uncomfortable. You’re not expected to give or participate in any way you’re not ready for. Our hope is simply that you experience worship as a gift and know that you’re welcome here.
What is available for kids?
At First Lutheran, kids are always welcome! We offer a “prayground” at the front of the Sanctuary where children can engage in quiet, hands-on play during worship. A nursery is also available for parents and young children at all services.
Before worship, families can stop by the Gathering Space to pick up an Activity Bag filled with items to help keep little hands and minds engaged.
Sunday School is offered from 9:15–10:15am for ages 3–4, 5–6, grades 1–3, and grades 4–6. Throughout the year, kids can also take part in Vacation Bible School and other fun seasonal events.
There’s always something for kids here—check out our Children’s Ministry to learn more!
