End of Year Giving

Double Your Gift to First Lutheran!

This year, as the pandemic has subsided, we have been seeing many new faces and the return of familiar friends to our worship and community life.

Together, we are actively growing into the vision we have discerned. First Lutheran is becoming: Genuinely Inclusive, Fully Engaged, Externally Focused, and Relationally Centered, while learning to be Intentional about Living like Christ.

Jeanne Appleton and her husband Pat Martin joined our congregation last spring. They have been deeply grateful for the welcome they have received and the experience here of a community who truly desires to include everyone. Together, they are raising a grandson with special needs. They have valued the warm presence of Cathie Frank in our nursery. Entrusting Eli to her expert loving care, they are free to participate fully in worship. Jeanne has also been giving back by keeping our convalescent loan closet well organized, using her occupational therapy background in a fresh way to serve our neighbors.

What if we could meet our expenses fully by the end of the year? That would put us in a strong position to grow forward and continue reaching and empowering people to live the way of Christ’s love.

Would you prayerfully consider an extra gift of generosity to help us reach that goal? So far in November we have already received $57,373.27 of the $170,770 we would need by the end of the year. Most recently, on Nov 29, we received $11,745.95 on Giving Tuesday!

Trusting the Spirit’s work among us and believing in the goals of our vision, members of the Council at First Lutheran have put forward matching funds to encourage further giving. The first $5,000.00 received in December for special year-end giving will be matched dollar for dollar.

Donations can be mailed in the enclosed return envelope. Please indicate “2022 year-end gift” in the memo line of your check. Gifts must be postmarked by December 31 to receive a tax benefit in the current tax year. You can also give electronically on our Giving webpage at flcj.org/give. If you wish to donate stocks or other appreciated assets, please contact our business administrator, Arwen Twitchett, at 608.752.7434 or busadmin@flcj.org.

We are excited about our future together and grateful for the many signs of the Spirit’s work among us. Join your prayers with ours, as we “pray with hope through Advent” and watch together for what God will do among us next! (Look for details at flcj.org/newsletter)

Thank you for being part of the FLCJ community!
